Gubrist Tunnel

Extension of Zurich northern bypass.

Project 

As part of the extension of the Zurich northern bypass, a 3rd tunnel tube is being constructed at Gubrist. This 3 km long tunnel increases the capacity to handle the growing traffic volume around Zurich and contributes to traffic safety.

It is an extraordinary project: There is no second tunnel in Switzerland with an excavation diameter of almost 16 metres. And the excavation and the inner lining is done in the direct proximity of the existing 2nd tube under service.
